Finished Album Cover V2

After showing both of the album covers to our audience, the majority preferred the second version. They noted that it better represented the featuring single of the album Day n Nite due to the filter we added to it. They also felt that the composition of the characters were more fitting in the second version it better emphasised a sense of comradery.

Artist Website

As a form of promotional material, I have decided to develop a website for the artist. From the existing websites I have previously analysed, I have noticed that there is a number of specific pages that consistently appear throughout many of them. Therefore I have decided to incorporate the following pages in my own: Home, Music, Tour and Store. For this task I will use the website WIX as it offers an array of templates which I can customise to my liking to complement his overall star constuction and image.

Audience Feedback on Mask Scenes

Although  we were pleased with the way the scene came out at the graffiti tunnel, our audience was also satisfied with the composition but were skeptical about it being filmed in the same location as one of our performance shots. Most felt that it breaks continuity as narrative wise, it is unlikely that someone would linger at a place where they've experienced something so bizarre and continue to perform. Therefore we were advised to pick a new location.

We decided to act on this feedback relocating to a more isolated location as we had initially planned. This location not only better suited the narrative but also made it significantly more convenient for us to film due to the appropriate lighting conditions.

We then decided to pick a second location to film the same narrative but through a different range of shot types. This is a much more open environment with masses of greenery which will help to further highlight his illusory state.

Audience Feedback

After showing the montage of the masks to our audience, they agreed to the camera work that was used as it helped to create a sense of a journy and a narrative. However they were not convinced by the fact that we used the same tunnel location as it fonflicts with the rest of the performance. Therefore we were advised to pick an entire new location for this scene.

Day 3 of Filming

Today we attempted to film the montage of the masks. We felt that it was necessary to have the same aesthetic that we had for the previous performance scene to make the narrative seem more coherent so we returned to 'graffiti tunnel' for this shoot. As with the previous session, lighting wasn't as great of an issue as the masks being white, compensated for the lack of light. There were however some difficulties with filming a steady shot when tracking the camera due to an uneven landscape but after multiple attempts with the help of a steady cam we achieved an adequate shot. Overall it was a fairly productive session.

Update to the Storyboard

Since we are planning to film at two additional locations which we did not refer to on our original storyboard, we have decided to draw up a new one to help us better visualise the shots we will be trying to achive.

Representation Idea

Reflecting back on the lyrics of our song, we realised that  Kid Cudi expresses his mental struggles and how he feels imprisoned in his own imagination at times. We thought that it was important to illustrate this as it is a predominant theme that is referred to throughout the song. In addition, this would also give us the opportunity to add an underlying narrative and give more substance to our video since as of yet, we only have two performance sequence.

In order to represent this theme we will place the performer in an isolated location (e.g an abandoned path). We will then follow this up with a montage, introducing a small group of masked figures from the POV of the performer to act as a visual metaphor to the delusions he is having.
